In a comic that'll grab your attention and won't let it go until you've finished it, Lavender Jack follows the story of Mimley Bastrop, who doubles as the vigilante Lavender Jack and proves to be a true scourge to the corrupt upper class of Gallery city. With a combination of his vast wealth, fighting prowess, clever engineering, and the strategies of his partner in crime Ducky, they go after the vilest leaders of Gallery and deliver their dirty laundry to the press to put an end to their practices once and for all.
#World23 Week 11: South Sideog, the Shaking Isle
This week of the #World23 writing challenge was all about one thing: warm, cosy feelings. Fluff, you might even say. I wanted a week's worth of comfort, and that is what I created. For one week, I just wanted to forget about the negativity for a bit and just escape into a magical happy world… Continue reading #World23 Week 11: South Sideog, the Shaking Isle
My #World23 Worldbuilding Challenge Overview, Day 57-70: North Sideog
I'm participating in the #World23 writing/worldbuilding challenge to build a little piece of my world every single day for the entirety of 2023. Every two weeks, I post the finished product of the area I just completed before I move on to the next one. The challenge is exciting because it allows me to use… Continue reading My #World23 Worldbuilding Challenge Overview, Day 57-70: North Sideog
#World23 Week 10: North Sideog, the Moondrop Isle
I'll be the first to say that I'm impressed I managed to stick with any challenge for 10 weeks straight, let alone a writing/worldbuilding challenge like #World23. I've already finished off five islands, including five maps, with North Sideog being the last one in the line. And, well, this week went pretty alright too, I'd… Continue reading #World23 Week 10: North Sideog, the Moondrop Isle
Book Review: Amari and the Night Brothers by B. B. Alston
Amari and the Night Brothers by B. B. Alston follows the story of the titular Amari, a thirteen-year-old Black girl who's grown up in a neighbourhood of a low-income housing project. Her whole world was turned upside down several months ago when her brother went missing, and the authorities show little interest in finding him. Then she finds a suitcase hidden in her closet, sent there by her brother, which reveals a whole new magical world to her that she never thought possible.
#World23 Week 9: North Sideog, the Moondrop Isle
With another week of the #World23 writing and worldbuilding challenge done, I'm now excited to have the addition of two new peoples in Tehoa: the gnomes and the centaur. This week is a combination of all sorts of things that make me happy: gemstones and minerals, volcanology and geology, fun mythology, and an awesome captain… Continue reading #World23 Week 9: North Sideog, the Moondrop Isle
My #World23 Worldbuilding Challenge Overview, Day 43-56: West Eker
Over the past two weeks, West Eker came together surprisingly well due to how closely I relate to the struggles of water. Being Dutch, it's a subject close to my heart, especially as the great flood of 1953 just passed 70 years ago on February 1st. But there are other influences of my culture in West Eker as well, such as the Saint Gosis celebration being based on Sint Maarten over here. All in all, it spoke to me on a personal level, and that's what made building it come naturally this time.
#World23 Week 8: West Eker, the Shrinking Isle
We're 15% into the #World23 worldbuilding and writing challenge, and I've finally found my groove again. This week - and the last one too - went way smoother than the others. The ideas and the writing just flowed, and I wrote 6 out of 7 days this week. It seems like water is kind of… Continue reading #World23 Week 8: West Eker, the Shrinking Isle
#World23 Week 7: West Eker, the Shrinking Isle
During this week of the #World23 worldbuilding and writing challenge, I had a little bit too much fun with both AI and mapmaking. For the first time ever, I've touched ChatGPT. Although it gave me some wildly offensive answers when I brought the Empire in the mix, it had some really fun ideas for the… Continue reading #World23 Week 7: West Eker, the Shrinking Isle
